Vacances!!!!

Anything is possible on a train: a great meal, a binge, a visit from card players, an intrigue, a good night’s sleep, and strangers’ monologues framed liked Russian short stories.

Depart Paris 22h45, Arrive Munich 08h58. We’re going on holiday!!

And that last picture really is where we’re ending up (not just a random beach photo).

To think about planning a similar journey check out Seat 61. And visit Flight Pledge to remind yourself why (aside of course from the romance, the adventure and all the exciting places we get to visit en route). But nobody’s perfect – we’re still flying back. I know.

Normal service will resume in ten days (at which point – STOP PRESS! – I will be back on two (loaned) wheels…!).

  1. Hi Mary,

My Internet connection (which had been gone since a heavy thunderstorm some nights ago) just got back in time for me to visit your blog once more before you leave and say that I’m looking forward to new enlightening and entertaining blog posts when you get back. I know that I’ll enjoy your frequent and varied postings even more now, when I’ll be leaving Paris. – But for the next ten days: have an excellent, interesting and relaxing holiday!

    Love,
    Cicilie

PS: And I’m sure you’re going to enjoy biking in Paris – I hope it will inspire some exploratory posts the next months!

Hello from another easily distracted PhD candidate with a blog!
Just found yours today and it’s fascinating, looking forward to reading more in the future.
Are you doing your doctorate in France or elsewhere?
    Enjoy your vacation,
    Lauren
