Back on my own two… feet

Just before I went away I was getting all excited about the possibility of being loaned a bike. But before I’d even had a chance to enjoy whizzing down leafy boulevards and discovering the city beyond the metro map it has been stolen (not from me, from its owner). Europe’s bicycle thiefs have clearly had a busy week, since Oliver’s disappeared in his absence too. Grrrrrr. Still, the offer of the bike made me realise how much I miss my own and just how much independence they give you; maybe I’ll have to think of a plan B. Anyone out there about to leave Paris for a time and looking for a good home for their bike?…

Not sure how short of cash you are, but you can get excellent cheap bikes at Decathlon. I’ve had 2 of their cheap bikes in London (the first was stolen!) and they have been excellent. The cheapest bike is 99 Euro, and then add perhaps 30 Euro for a lock and some mud-guards.
