Proposition de communication

I’ve just submitted a proposal for this conference at the ENS in December. Unbelievably, if my paper is accepted it will be the first I’ve given in French, so I’m understandably nervous about it. I was relieved though when I looked again at the CFP this morning that what I had remembered as 1,500 words was in fact 1,500 characters (including spaces!). A much smaller order…

UPDATE 24th August 2007

Well my paper has been accepted (hooray!). And indeed the conference line-up looks fantastic. So fantastic in fact that I have (provisionally) been put in a panel with Yves le Fur (curator of ‘D’un regard l’autre’ at the Quai Branly, not to mention a string of exhibitons at the MAAO) and Herman Lebovics.  Nervous? Moi? More like terrified.

Hey I am planning to respond to a call for papers for a uncoming conference in French and if selected it’ll be my first conference in French. I was wondering if you could give me some advice. Normally in English I would say ‘In this paper, I intend to study blah blah’. How would you say the same thing in french: ‘Dans cette communication il s’agirait de…’ or ‘ Dans cet article’. Which term do u prefer? Article or communication?

I would really appreciate your help
